Exciting news this week is that Bromley and Lewisham could be set to get on the Tube...in 26 years.
Boris Johnson’s London Infrastructure Plan 2050 suggests the Bakerloo line, which currently ends at Elephant and Castle could continue down through New Cross, Lewisham, Catford, Beckenham Junction and Hayes.
The downside is the project could be scheduled for as far away as 2040.
And we’re pretty certain the world will be a different place by then.
Here are 10 things that will almost certainly happen in the next 25 years...
Driverless cars

Keep your driverless underground trains, I’ll be zooming round town in my Googlemobile while watching holographic movies.
A cinema in Orpington
...will be coming soon.
Formula One in London
Surely this can’t be far away. We hope there’s some kind of Scalextric-style crossroads or, failing that, Fiveways in Eltham could somehow be incorporated.
A statue of Jay from the Inbetweeners at Selhurst Park
If Fulham can put Michael Jackson outside Craven Cottage, why can’t the Eagles have the great comic character. After all, the Inbetweeners 7 – where the lads go on a golfing holiday in the Highlands – broke all box office records in 2015. And at least actor James Buckley is a Palace fan.
One Direction’s reunion tour reaches Goldsmiths Uni
Liam, Louis, Zayn – not Harry or Niall – continue on the comeback trail, playing to drunk, disinterested students who tell them ‘my mum loved you guys’ and ‘where’s Harry?’.
Paramount Park unveils the REAL Space Mountain
The well-established north Kent theme park creates hysteria when it opens the first rollercoaster that is so high it actually skims the stratosphere.
Prince George ‘quits’ the Royals
Now 26, the increasingly disillusioned George decides being a prince isn’t worth the hassle since the Queen became and android and vowed never to step down. He’s said to be considering a pop career.
An airport in north Kent
...is mooted. After years of discussion, the politicians have decided we can’t afford to wait any longer before deciding how to increase Britain’s aviation capacity. Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson is backing an airport in the Thames Estuary.
The Rolling Stones tour sells out in 6 minutes
Expected to be their farewell tour, the ageing band’s stadium tour will take in 16 countries and 42 shows. Demand for tickets is still high despite very few people now being able to remember the band’s golden period, including the band.
England expects at Euro 2040
After 74 years of hurt, England’s young team are frankly delighted to have qualified. Manager James Milner said: “I told the lads: ‘Go and there and do your best. That’s all you can do.’, they said: ‘OK, James.’”
