A new mobile clinic to fight smoking in Bromley hits the streets this week.

NHS community organisation Bromley Healthcare launches its 'Smokefree Bromley' van on Friday – the group’s latest drive to help the borough’s smokers “kick the habit”.

Equipped with information and advice from specialist advisors, the clinic will travel around Bromley town centre, St Paul’s Cray, Orpington, Mottingham, and Elmers End for a six-week campaign.

Bromley Healthcare CEO Jonathan Lewis said: “For the 40,000 plus smokers in Bromley, quitting smoking is the best action they can take to improve their overall health.

“Our team will be at the Walnuts Shopping Centre between 9am and 5pm on Friday, and members of the public can pop down to get free advice on giving up smoking.”

The team says the bright-green van, a converted ambulance, has two consultation areas, which can either be booked by appointment or used as drop-in points.

Bromley Healthcare says previously support for smokers has only been available through regular channels such as GPs and pharmacies.

It hopes a mobile unit will delve deeper into the “heart of communities” and take expertise to those who may not have sought help in the past.

The tour runs between August 4 and September 15. To book an appointment and for details on where the van will stop visit bromleyhealthcare.org.uk
