A Bromley businessman has been ordered to pay £1,312 after pleading guilty to fly-tipping waste roofing materials in Beckenham.

Nicholas Rogers, 41, of Bradford Close, pleaded guilty to one charge of fly-tipping at Bromley Magistrates' Court.

This followed an investigation by Bromley Council into multiple large dumps of waste roofing materials on a secluded unmade section of Downsbridge Road, Beckenham.

Executive Councillor Colin Smith said: "Dumping waste is never acceptable and such criminal behaviour will not be tolerated in our borough.

“Fly-tipping is dangerous, harmful and expensive to deal with. Where is there evidence available, we will not hesitate to prosecute and this latest prosecution should serve as a warning to others that they too will face prosecution."

Mr Rogers was fined £100 plus £20 victim surcharge and ordered to pay costs of £1,192 to the London Borough of Bromley.

So where does the money go? I mean who benefits from the fine? Does it just go into a corporate bank account and then classed as profit?

Apparently the staff at Magistrates Courts dont work voluntarilry so maybe the fines go towards their wages? Or to the council workers who have had to clear the rubbish this man dumped?

Fee-paid positions – including tribunal appointments, Recorders, and Deputy District Judges – are paid according to the number of sittings or days worked. The number of sitting days varies depending on the type of appointment, and will generally be at least 15 days a year.

So more people who break the law the more the judge get's. Capitalism? and also a judge is not paid to make money, that would be FRAUD?

Why did he dump it in Beckenham? He should have gone to Cray, some of the locals would have taken it for nothing & found a use for it.
