Hundreds of jumpers will join in a hugely entertaining and energetic performance where dance meets skipping at Greenwich Park.
The Through and Out: Skipping Extravaganza which will take place on July 12 has been commissioned by Greenwich Dance for Big Dance 2013, part of the Royal Greenwich Festivals 2014.
It is devised by choreographer Jorge Crecis and is a cross between dance and old fashioned rope skipping that paves the way for a choreographic game for everyone; dancers, non-dancers, kids, adults and spectators.
On Saturday, July 12, hundreds of professional and amateur dancers from south east London will come together for a performance set to a score by composer The Artist.
Audiences can listen to a soundtrack, downloaded in advance, on headphones.
Greenwich Dance artistic director Kat Bridge said: “We’re excited to be working with inventive choreographer Jorge Crecis, bringing his playful crossover of dance and rope-skipping for everyone to try.
“The fantastic team of dance artists are working with groups at schools, community centres and youth dance groups around Greenwich and beyond, and there is still plenty time to get involved – just get in touch with us if you’d like to take part, or come down to the park and watch it on the day.”
Performances are at 11.30am and 2.30pm and are free. For more information on how to take part, visit greenwichdance.org.uk or call Greenwich Dance on 020 8293 9741.
