A daughter was overjoyed to "repay the kindness" her dad has shown her throughout her life - by winning him a £1,900 scooter in a News Shopper competition.

Beverley Stewart, of Sandringham Drive, Dartford, 49, entered on behalf of her dad, Albert, last month.

The news of the win came the day before the 86-year-old’s birthday and it is hoped the brand new scooter will give the Wandsworth resident a new lease of life.

Beverley told News Shopper: "I was about to go shopping for his birthday present.
"It was like winning the lottery.

"I’ve been trying my whole life to repay his kindness.

"He was so shocked, I had to tell him several times for it to sink in."

Beverley wrote to the News Shopper in her winning entry: "My dad is s such a wonderful person and has spent his whole life providing for and worrying about his family and I would love the opportunity to bring a smile to his face."

The £1,900 Rascal Partner mobility scooter was donated by The Mobility Centre which has stores in Penge and Orpington.

Albert was presented with the mobility scooter on June 16 by Richard Cooper from the store.
