An unlicensed cabbie who drove a clubber to the countryside and raped her is facing jail after he was snared by his victim's iPhone tracker app.

Paul Causer, 39, of Barfleur Lane, Deptford, picked up the 28-year-old woman outside McQueen's bar in Shoreditch after she had been out with friends.

He drove her all the way to Godstone in Surrey, before attacking her in a country lane.

Police used the "Where's my iPhone" app on the victim's missing phone to track Causer down to Swanscombe.

The woman had been out drinking and dancing with friends until 3am on August 3 last year.

She began feeling unwell and wanted to go to her own home in Battersea, southwest London.

The woman had spotted Causer at a taxi rank near Old Street, and asked to be taken to her home saying that she would need to stop to take out cash en route.

During the journey the woman was sick several times.

After stopping at a petrol station he tried to withdraw £300, £200 and £100 in cash using the victim's card.

Causer then attacked her after stopping the car in Bonemill Lane, Godstone.

She was begging him to stop and not to hurt her.

The woman pleaded: 'Why are you doing this to me? I'm a good person.'

But Causer forced her to perform oral sex on him.

He then told her something was wrong with his car and that she would have to get out and push.

As the woman got out of the car, Causer sped off.

She was found by a security guard who was able to get her to safety and contact the police.

Detectives discovered Causer had borrowed the car from a friend.

Causer claimed the woman had given her debit card to him so that he could withdraw cash for her fare and said he was looking for money to pay for petrol.

He said when they stopped he asked for oral sex and she obliged.

Causer, of Barfleur Lane, Deptford, was convicted of one charge of rape but acquitted of theft.

Judge Anthony Morris, QC, remanded Causer in custody ahead of sentence on July 10.
