A Lewisham school dined with Boris Johnson after winning an inaugural London maths competition.
Kender Primary School pupils Azeezat Uushff, Stephen Odeleve, and Paul Adea, all aged 10, beat dozens of others to win the competition on Tuesday (June 10).
The trio was whisked off for lunch at London’s Tower 42 with the Mayor of London and former New York Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, and also challenged BoJo to a numeric battle.
The event, held at City Hall, marked the first ‘Count on Us’ contest and was hosted by TV maths whizz Johnny Ball alongside the Mayor’s Fund for London.
The initiative has been set up to help fund numeracy programmes in deprived areas across the capital.
The mayor said he hopes Count on Us will motivate thousands of children to improve their numeracy in the coming years.
Other teams in the final included Normandy Primary School in Bexley and Harris Primary Academy Kent House in Bromley.
