A group of ten soldiers will lug a heavy log from Strood to Greenhithe in aid of disabled comrades.

The third annual log race, taking place on Saturday (June 14), will see the men run and march the eleven-mile journey to raise funds for Pilgrim Bandits - a charity aimed at helping wounded soldiers live life to the full.

The group will be greeted by well-wishers at Gravesend including the town's mayor Cllr John Caller, mayor of Swanscombe and Greenhithe Cllr Sue Butterfill and charity patrons Ben Parkinson MBE and SAS veteran Rusty Firmin to name but a few.

The feat of strength ended at the Royal British Legion in London Road, Greenhithe.

Cllr Butterfill praised the efforts of organiser, John Bull saying: "John has been doing this for the past three years, he puts so much effort into it and he really deserves some credit."
