Concerns have been raised about new plans for a medical centre, crèche and 32 new apartments in Greenhithe.

Residents say although the area needs more infrastructure like this- the proposed land at the junction of Station Road and Eagles Road might not be the right place.

Developers Green Portal, based in Maidstone, will be putting the plans into Dartford Council at the end of the month and seek outline planning permission.

Opinions from residents have been mixed.

Suki Mcnair, 46, of Smugglers Walk, Greenhithe, told News Shopper: "I think a new medical centre could be a very good thing as long as it is in addition to the surgeries that are already open and doesn't mean others might be closed.

"I don't think there is enough room where the buildings are proposed and it could have a big impact on the people that live in the houses on the Eagles Road estate.

"As the majority of the new residents are in Ingress Park it would make far more sense for this to be built there.

"There are already 1000 homes in Ingress park alone and is it really the right place for this type of development."

Ellie Wakefield, 23, of London Road, Greenhithe, is opposed to the location of the plans.

She said:. "The roundabouts cannot cope with the flow of tragic we are getting at the moment without more houses.

"A medical centre is a great idea but we don't need more housing when the new development next to Waterstones Park is being built."

Events manager Sacha Zarb, 36, moved to Lightermans Way, Greenhithe 18 months with his wife because they wanted more space to start a family.

He added: "This sounds like a great addition to the area.

"I think it will help the area a lot, there is no decent doctors and the town needs a community hub.

"We have moved to Greenhithe and facilities have to be built. we cant be nimby about it.

"The area is full of young families and a creche would be a good thing."

The developers say the 32 homes will be called Village Heights and will include 54 off road parking spaces and the medical centre has been allocated 22 parking spaces.

Public meetings are being held tomorrow night (Friday, June 6) from 6pm to 8pm at St Mary's Community Hall and at the same time on Tuesday, June 10.
