A 31-year-old man from London, who had boarded the train at Charing Cross, was assaulted by a fellow passenger as the train passed-by Hither Green.

PC Mike Willoughby said: “The offender, without provocation or warning, launched a vicious attack, punching the victim several times to the face and head causing swelling to the side of his head.”

Officers are in the process of carrying out a number of enquiries – including speaking to witnesses – and have managed to gain a description of the offender.
