Heavy rainfall across London and North Kent yesterday left parts of Foots Cray underwater.

Maidstone Road was flooded from around 4pm and into the evening.

It has been reported that floods had subsided by this morning.

Martin (@n_s_martin) posted pictures of the flooding on Twitter.

And Maria Bracken, who works on Maidstone Road, said on the social networking site: "Had an exciting day at the office today - fire engines, ambulances, Bexley council, police - all in our car park due to flooding!!!"

Met Police officers and fire crews from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) were on the scene.

A spokesman for LFB said: "We received a call at 3.50pm to reports of flooding.

"The fire fighters were not required to do anything and left the scene about ten minutes later when it was obvious noone was trapped or needed rescuing."
