London’s first bicycle race on hired bikes will be held on June 7.

Thirty people have signed up to the race which will race around Smithfield Market.

The race, organised by Transport for London, currently has 30 competitors and is part of a series of night time sprint and endurance cycle races to be held in east London.

People will be racing on Boris Bikes painted yellow in honour of the Tour de France which is coming to London.

On July 7 around 200 Tour de France cyclists will travel from Cambridge to London before finishing on The Mall.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said: "Exactly a month before the Tour de France rolls into our great city, the London Nocturne will kick-start another sensational summer of cycling in the capital."
