The Woolwich Ferry is down to a one-boat service - resulting in mammoth traffic queues in the town.

One of the ferries  has been taken out of service due to mechanical problems.

But the withdrawl means there are long queues around John Wilson Street and the ferry approach.

When is TFL going to understand that the Woolwich Ferry needs replacing, or rather the boats need to be replaced. The likes of Sir Peter Hendy and Boris Johnson , The Board of TFL and its senior management, going to spend money on a new crossing/ferries. It has just taken me nearly 2 hours to get from Charlton to Plumstead by bus.

TFL/the Met Police should be controlling the traffic and moving the HGVs away from the Ferry, maybe an operation along the lines of Operation Stack when there are problems with the Dover ferries is called for. Maybe parking the HGVs on somewhere like Woolwich Common and allowing so many down the ferry at a time would help.

This is fast becoming a regular event and proves that TFL are not fit for purpose!! We are now seeing buses been cut short at the strangest places. Also to cap it all the TFL website does not even have the Woolwich ferry on it so you cannot see the delays!!!

The woolwich ferry had been like this for donkey years already. Sometimes it dosent even get reported. Those boats are a million years old and badly maintained. They are an embarrassment to woolwich let alone tfl.
