People in north Kent are being encouraged to learn more about how medicines and health services are developed.

The NHS Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is planning an event next month which will explain how commissioners decide which drugs to fund; what medicines to make available for prescriptions and what services pharmacists offer.

Medical professionals are hoping the session will open up the dialogue between themselves and patients.

Clinical chair of the CCG Dr Bhaskar Bora said: "These events are helpful to us to gain the public view.

"They give us an opportunity to engage and form a strong dialogue that benefits commissioners, patients and public."

Prescribing lead Dr Janet Hall, who will be co-chairing the event, said: "The public voice is crucial to ensure we make the right decisions.

"We welcome views and experiences so our planning puts the patient at the heart of designing local services."

Admission to the event is free but places must be reserved.
