A Lewisham man has been jailed for four years after sexually assaulting a woman in the street where he lived.

Hubert Rybicki, 36, of Slaithwaite Road, was found by police on top of his victim after she called them crying for help around 5.40am on August 5 last year.

He had befriended the 19-year-old girl and they bought alcohol together but when she declined sex he became aggressive and attacked her in Slaithwaite Road.

Rybicki was sentenced today (May 15) at Woolwich Crown Court to four years in prison after being found guilty of assault by penetration.

Detective Constable James White said: "This was a very disturbing offence, where Rybicki had the audacity to attack the victim in a quiet residential Street.

“Rybicki has shown himself to be a very dangerous man who deserves the sentence he has been given."

Rybicki will now be monitored as a registered sex offender for life.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Thomas added: "Rybicki is clearly a dangerous individual, who has been shown to be a significant threat to women.

"I would like to commend the victim for her commitment to see justice and participate in a court trial, which was undoubtedly a very difficult experience for her.”

He went on to say he feared there may be other victims and urged any rape victims to come forward and tell police what happened.
