A manifesto on stop and search, hate crime and street safety created by people across the borough has been presented to Lewisham leaders.
Run by charity Citizens UK, the event was attended by 350 Lewisham citizens from schools, mosques, and churches at Deptford Green School in New Cross.
Their manifesto included specific requests on stop and search, street safety, hate crime, social care, and supporting the first ever community land trust in Lewisham.
It was developed following a listening campaign that encouraged people to raise issues of concern and consider what a council leader and police commander could deliver to combat these issues.
Executive head teacher at Deptford Green Bob Ellis said: "This event has shown local people of all ages that local politicians are listening and are open to suggestions on straightforward achievable improvements."
