A funeral is being held for a “gentle and caring” man who worked as a well-known buggy driver at Woolwich’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Reg Border, 83, was known as the ‘sweetie man’ as he carried sweets on his buggy around ward 18 for patients to help themselves to.
He died on April 30 and his funeral is taking place at Falconwood Crematorium on May 19 at 2.45pm where all are welcome to attend.
Mr Border joined the trust’s voluntary services in May 2000 and worked at the WRVS shop at Greenwich District Hospital before moving to Queen Elizabeth.
Voluntary services manager Diane Hudson said: “Reg was an incredibly gentle, patient and caring man with a 'wicked sense of humour' nothing was ever too much for him to do for the patients and staff at the hospital and he will be deeply missed.”
