A 61-year-old New Cross chef accused of slashing a man's bottom and arm with a meat cleaver in Catford has appeared in court.

Police were called on May 6 at around 2.30pm to a restaurant at Eros House in Brownhill Road, Catford, after reports of a disturbance.

A 40-year-old man had allegedly been assaulted inside the resturant with a meat cleaver following an argument over damage to his car.

The attack left him with wounds to his arm, buttock and upper leg. He remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Phat Thanh Duong, of Chubworthy Street, was charged on May 7 with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage and appeared Bromley Magistrates' Court yesterday (May 8).

Duong was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Woolwich Crown Court on May 22
