No great preamble to this one, just the very simple question: What do you think is the best boozer in the south-east London and north Kent area, the one you’d be most heartbroken to ever see close down?

Add your answer in the comments box below, with a little detail about what makes it so special.

Unrelated to the main question, but for a bit of extra fun, you can also tell us what your favourite pub NAME in the area is.

The Barge Pole in the quaint North Kent village of Abbey Wood. A delightful location right on the village green overlooking a rustic campsite. Best enjoyed on a summers day sitting outside watching the local ponies grazing on the green. Why go to the New Forrest when it's all right here. Wonderful !!!

The Door Hinge micro ale house in Welling High Street.
Three or four excellent cask ales kept at optimum temperature in the chilled room inside. No lagers. No spirits. No alcopops. No Guinness. No TV. No music. No games machines. Very small bar, no bigger than someone's lounge but great atmosphere and drinkers are forced to share the six tables and talk to complete strangers. Ray the guvnor knows how to care for the ale and run a happy ship. A gem in a wilderness of blandness and tired traditional pubs. A must visit. Also the name is nominated for best pub name.

Am sitting in the Door Hinge drinking a cracking pint of Empire Brewery's Robohop and must agree with all that John from Grove Park says.

It's well worth the two bus journey from Thamesmead to get a beer served in top condition and be able to engage in social intercourse of the highest order.
