A former Dartford Mayoress has passed away.

Stone Parish Council paid tribute to Dulcie Jones who is thought to have died last week.

She was rewarded for her community work five years ago by the naming of Dulcie Close at Horns Cross, Greenhithe.

A Stone Parish Council spokesman said: “We were extremely saddened to hear of the recent death of ex-Councillor Dulcie Jones.

“Dulcie served as a parish councillor from 1966 to 2011 and was Mayoress of Dartford in both 1998 and 2000, and Deputy Mayoress in 2002.

“Dulcie saw many changes during her time as a member of Stone Parish Council and her service to the community was recognised in 2009 through the naming of Dulcie Close at Horns Cross.

“The Council would like to extend deepest sympathies to Dulcie’s husband Ivor and the rest of her family.”

I know this lady. She worked at Darent Valley Hospital as a volunteer.

Sad news, though. Sympathy goes to her family.

Dear Heloise Wood,
You report "Dulcie Jones who is thought to have died last week". How hard would it have been to find out when she did die and her age? Basic points that would have made the story more informative and interesting.
