Catford Broadway market is no more, according to one of its traders, although the council says it is only a tempoary suspension.
The monthly market had been running for almost two years and was promoted by Lewisham Council as boosting the area's regeneration - along with the now-closed pop-up restaurant Catford Canteen.
But owners of the Light and Bubbly stall announced last week that the monthly market had only secured four traders for its May event during the bank holiday weekend.
They said: "All change! Unfortunately Catford Broadway monthly market is no more.
"The few traders that wanted to continue will now be situated at the clock tower end of Lewisham market from this Sunday onwards. Hours are 9am to 5pm."
But a Lewisham Council spokesman said: "Due to ongoing street improvements and reduced footfall, Catford Broadway market has been temporarily suspended.
"In the meantime, traders have been offered alternative pitches at Lewisham Market.”
