The BBC will visit Woolwich as part of its First World War centenary tour.

BBC London 94.9 will cover the Great Get Together and Armed Forces Day event in Woolwich on June 28, an opportunity for residents to learn about how the war affected families and communities.

There will be interviews in hosted by BBC stars like Larry Lamb, and the chance for volunteers to be put through their paces in an outdoor parade ground.

Visitors can also meet Imperial War Museum experts to search and find out more about their families’connections to the war.

Acting controller of BBC Learning, Sinead Rocks, said: "Commemorating the start of World War One, we hope these ambitious events will give visitors a hands-on experience, helping people to explore how this conflict shaped our world at home and continues to influence us today."
