Police have launched an appeal to trace two men after a bag was stolen from a sleeping passenger on board a train.

The incident happened on Wednesday April 9 after the men boarded a 5.41pm London Cannon Street to Sevenoaks service at Orpington.

Detectives have been analysing footage from on board the train and today released CCTV images of two men they believe will be able to help the investigation.

Detective Constable Ostin Elkins, leading the investigation, said: "The victim, a 38-year-old man, boarded the train at Cannon Street and placed his bag in the overhead luggage racks and sat close by.

"By 6.20pm – when the train arrived at Knockholt station – the victim had fallen asleep. His bag was taken from the luggage rack by a man who fled the train. The victim only realised it was gone when he woke up some time later.

"The two men pictured boarded the train at Orpington station. I urgently want to find out who they are as I believe they may have crucial information. If you recognise them, please get in touch."
