• Craft and Design at Greenwich Market from Friday (May 2) to Monday (May 5)

London’s most talented designer makers will be showing off their wares at a four day event at Greenwich Market and you can meet them all or even have a go. Among the traders will be jewellers, wood turners, knitters, felters, lino cutters and even blacksmiths. Go to greenwichmarketlondon.com

• May Fayre at Petts Wood Hall from 10am to 4pm on Monday, May 5

A fun-packed day includes a May Queen parade which starts at 10am from the News Shopper car park prior to the fair itself in the memorial hall. Entry is free and there is plenty going on with a fun fair, music and performances,

• Chipstead Sailing Club’s Open Day from 10.30am to 4pm on Monday (May 5)

Have a go at sailing with a free taster for all of the family. Watch juniors and adults race and find out about Learn to Sail courses. There is also disability sailing with Wealden Sailability. • Erith Playhouse’s Upcoming Readings Season 2014, from 10.30am on Sunday (May 4)

Get a sneak preview of what’s on at the theatre for the second half of the year, including  by Lyle Kessler, Chase me up Farndale Avenue, S’il Vous Plait by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jnr, an adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful and Shelagh Stevenson’s Ancient Lights. • Guided Walk at Knole Park, from 2pm to 3pm on Saturday (May 3) and Sunday (May 4)

Join a gentle guided walk around the medieval parkland to hear more about the deer, the people who have lived there and events associated with Knole. Families, buggies, wheelchairs and scooters are all welcome and normal admission charges apply.

• Meet a Moshi Monsters and Star Wars Characters at Bluewater

Moshi Monster Poppet will be at The Entertainer in Bluewater from 10am to 4pm on Saturday (May 3) while the Lego store will celebrate Lego Star Wars with activities across the weekend including offers, the chance to win goodies and visits from Star Wars characters.

• Bridal wonderland at The Kent Showground in Detling from 10am to 4pm on Sunday (May 4)

The largest free wedding show in the UK comes to Kent with a huge range of wedding specialists. There will be around 200 businesses in two arenas. It’s free and there’ll be entertainment on the stage all day as well as a food court, licensed bar, cafe and crèche.

• Bushcraft for kids at Penshurst Place from 11am to 5pm on Sunday and Monday (May 4 and 4)

The Bushcraft Company will create an exciting adventure for children within the grounds of the historic house and youngsters can get some survival training. There are sessions on the hour every hour for kids (and adults) to learn some bushcraft and how to survive from the land. From noon to 4pm, there will be session where they can make secret messages and mini parachutes in the education room too.

• PureGold at the Southbank Centre from 3pm to 9pm on Monday (May 5)

Up and coming acts from Goldsmiths’ uni – including former student FEMME, whose debut single sold more than 80,000 downloads in the US – will perform both pop, classical and contemporary music.

In recent years, the uni has unearthed the likes of James Blake, Katy B and War Horse composer Adrian Sutton.

• West Wickham Village Day from 10am to 2pm on Monday (May 5)

Blake Park recreation ground hosts a free day of fun and celebration for the family. There is a fun run at 10am, a bouncy castle, fire engine, face painting, barbecue, stalls and other fun along those lines.

• Cloisters Bike Ride from 9am on Monday (May 5) in Longfield

There will be three rides -13, 23 and 44 miles – leaving from Stanstead Village Hall in Longfield. Prices start from £15 and all ages are welcome. Refreshments will be available. Call 01732 822222 or visit cloistersbikeride.org

• SSAFA Bandfest at The Old Mill pub in Plumstead from noon to 9pm on Sunday (May 4)

The Paul Cook Blues Band, RayBand and Cream Crackered are among the performers at the show for the charity SSAFA which supports serving and ex forces personnel. Free entry. Go to facebook.com/promotemusicforyou

  • The Carpenters Story at The Churchill Theatre, Bromley, on Sunday (May 5)

• Harriet Eaves album launch at St John’s Church, Penge, from 7.30pm on Saturday (May 3)

• May Day fun in Orpington from 1.30pm to 3pm on Saturday (May 3)

Watch the Hartley Morris Men perform at the Walnuts Shopping Centre and see the town’s May Queen crowned in Priory Gardens at 2pm.
