The family of Peaches Geldof has refused to comment on reports that she died from a heroin overdose as an inquest into her death is due to open.

The body of the 25-year-old mother-of-two was found at the home she shared with her young family in Wrotham, Kent, on April 7.

A post-mortem examination carried out at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford proved inconclusive, prompting further tests to be conducted.

According to The Times, tests showed she died from a heroin overdose, in a parallel to her mother Paula Yates who died at her London home aged 41 in 2000.

A spokesman for the Geldof family: "I cannot confirm anything as an inquest is taking place. The family have no statement."

The inquest will be opened and adjourned at Gravesend Old Town Hall this afternoon.

A statement from Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham will be heard during the brief hearing in front of North West Kent coroner Roger Hatch.

A full inquest into the death of model, TV presenter and journalist Ms Geldof - mother to Astala, 23 months, and 11-month-old Phaedra - is due to be set for late July.

Hours before she was found dead, Ms Geldof posted a picture online of herself as a young child in the arms of her TV presenter and writer mother.

At her funeral service in Davington, near Faversham, Ms Geldof's body was carried into church in a poignantly-decorated coffin which included a picture of her young family.

Her father, Bob Geldof, is thought to have led tributes in front of a host of well-known personalities, including the Duchess of York, supermodel Kate Moss and former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman.

The church, St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence, was where Ms Geldof married musician Mr Cohen in 2012. It was also where her television presenter mother Paula Yates married Geldof in 1986.

Ms Yates' funeral was held there after she died from an accidental heroin overdose in 2000, aged 41.

Former Boomtown Rats singer Geldof has previously paid tribute to his daughter alongside his partner, Jeanne Marine, and Ms Geldof's sisters, Fifi Trixibelle, Pixie and Tiger, saying she was the "wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us".

A Kent Police spokesman said the force "neither confirmed or denied" the report.
