Members of a drug gang with ties to Erith, Bexleyheath, Welling and Plumstead have been jailed for supplying cocaine worth £1.4 million.

Mark Ives and Peter Munday controlled a network of drug couriers distributing cocaine and amphetamines in Bexleyheath and Erith.

Today at Inner London Crown Court Ives, 35, of Grove Road, Bexleyheath, was jailed for a total of seven years and four months, having pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply 4.8kg of cocaine, and conspiring to supply 15kg of amphetamines.

Munday, 36, of Park Crescent, Erith, was jailed for a total of eight years and three months after admitting conspiring to supply cocaine, amphetamine and possessing £42,000 of criminal property.

Police conducted a series of raids on the seven-strong gang, who have been jailed for a total of more than 28 years.

One such pre-planned operation on March 18, 2013, caught Jamie Haylett at Little Haven Stud Farm in Sidcup with 13.9g of cocaine in two locked safes hidden under the wooden boards in the rear of his van.

A search warrant was executed at the farm, which was being rented by Munday, and £8,500 was discovered in an office safe and a further £31,500 in a carrier bag stashed in a container.

A further search was conducted at a garage in Colyers Lane, Erith, which was being rented by Haylett.

Inside the garage officers discovered a suitcase containing 15kg of amphetamines and 1.7kg of cocaine was discovered in a safe.

On May 16 last year at Woolwich Crown Court, Haylett, 36, of Vicarage Close, Erith was sentenced to six years in prison, having pleaded guilty to possessing 1.7kg cocaine with intent to supply and possessing 15kg of amphetamines with intent to supply.

Today John Coogan, 36, of Plumstead Common Road, Plumstead was jailed for six years and six months after admitting conspiring to supply 800g of cocaine.

All the drugs seized were of a high purity and the cocaine, weighing approximately 6.4kg, had a street value around £1.4 million.

Also seized during the course of the investigation were 500g Ecstasy, 15kg Amphetamine, 1kg cannabis resin and £54,000 cash.

Detective Inspector Tim Grinsted of the Met’s Central Task Force, said: "This complex investigation demonstrates how the Metropolitan Police's Central Task Force is committed to pursuing those bent of profiting from the inevitable misery that class A drugs bring to our communities.

"The sentences handed down today reflect the serious nature of these offences."
