Emerging playwrights will be celebrated and given a chance to get their work performed in Brockley.

Brockley Jack Studio Theatre’s fifth Write Now competition received more than 250 submissions of full and short plays that had never been performed before, written by people from across south east London.

A panel, which included the theatre’s artistic director Kate Bannister, whittled them down to three full length play and seven shorts which will be brought to life between May 17 and June 7.

Creative entrepreneur and writer Tom Harvey’s comedy Pool, about a group of pool attendants in the early days of New Labour will get a full two week run from May 27 to June 7.

Bottecelli’s Angels by Gemma Hills McGrath and Box Chicken by Max Katz will both get three staged readings between May 20 and May 24, while the festival kicks off with an evening of shorts on May 17.
