Crime has continued to fall in Bromley during the last financial year, the Met Police has reported.

According to Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) figures, 827 fewer offences were committed – showing a reduction of over four per cent compared to the previous 12 months.

Crimes involving cars, robberies, and weapons have decreased, though both rape and abuse have risen.

Statistics indicate domestic abuse has climbed by 18.7 per cent, while recorded rapes across the borough have gone up by over 35 per cent.

However, the Met notes this could be due to a “range of factors”, including victims having more confidence in coming forward.

Bromley borough commander Chris Hafford said: "The latest crime figures for Bromley reflect the figures across the MPS as a whole. Overall crime in Bromley has fallen by 4.1 per cent.

“This has all been achieved as a result of a lot of hard work by my officers and staff across the borough.

“We are moving in the right direction, but there's still a great deal of work to do to cut crime further”.

The Met said new measures such as predictive crime mapping, improved forensics, and cross-borough burglary teams have contributed to the successes.
