A Brockley man who hopes to become Mayor of Lewisham has appeared in court following an alleged graffiti protest over housing.
John Hamilton, 58, of Pendrell Road, is accused of painting the fence of a Lewisham Council-owned development in Besson Street with a political message about the lack of affordable homes in the borough.
It is also claimed he damaged a car owned by the council with a paintbrush.
He appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court on April 17 and was bailed until his next appearance on May 8.
Hamilton is currently running as the mayoral candidate for People Before Profit in next month's elections.
