A Shooters Hill man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire in a terraced house this afternoon.

The fire brigade was called out to the property in Holburne Road where around half of the first floor was damaged by fire.

A man left the house before firefighters arrived on the scene and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Four fire engines and 20 firefighters from Greenwich, Lee Green, and East Greenwich fire stations were at the scene.

The brigade was called at 1.29pm and the fire was under control by 3.01pm. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
