Robbers threatened staff at a Longfield newsagent with a knife before making off with cash and cigarettes yesterday evening.

Detectives investigating a reported robbery at Martins newsagent in Station Road, Longfield are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.

Kent Police was called to the store at 6.50pm on April 16.

Officers attended the newsagent after it was reported three men entered the shop and one threatened members of staff with what is believed to have been a small knife.

The suspects left with a quantity of cash and cigarettes, as well as a handbag. None of the staff were injured or harmed.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Sam Hudson-Gool of Kent Police, said: "The three suspects who carried out this reported robbery clearly had little regard for the staff members they threatened and the impact this will no doubt have had on them.

"I am appealing for anyone who might have witnessed the incident, or who might have seen three people leaving the area, to contact us as soon as possible."

The first suspect has been described as a white man, between 20-30 years old, about 5ft 8ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, blue and white striped jumper, sunglasses and trainers.

The second man is white, between 25-30 years old, about 5ft 9ins tall, medium length hair and was wearing a grey tracksuit.

The third is a white man, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 8ins tall with short thin dark hair and wearing a dark jacket with a hood.
