Travellers seen pitched up by Tubbenden skate park in Orpington have now left, leaving behind a large amount of fly-tipped waste.

They arrived at the Tubbenden Lane park on Monday morning, and quickly caused concern for local residents.

A man, who did not want to be named, told News Shopper: "I am a little bit disturbed.

"These travellers have settled in Tubbenden Park. There are about 20 or 30 vehicles.

"I've already rung the council about it."

A council spokesman said: "We cannot tolerate these illegal incursions and in less than 24 hours, with support from the police, this latest traveller incursion has been dealt with.

"It is disgusting to record that there is now a large amount of fly-tipped waste at the site which needs to be removed and this will be done as quickly as possible."

We live nearby and are very concerned, this is over the road from our house. My daughter was punched in the head by a child with no provocation and my wife saw another local child's scooter snatched off him. Even this morning at 7.15 we could hear yelling and swearing from the site. It's very upsetting to have to triple lock yourself in your own house in night time and look out constantly for the more vulnerable members of our community, we should all be able to go about our business without fear of being mugged and assaulted.

When can Bromley Council let us have the bill for the clean-up ?

Simple lesson to local people -
If they knock on your door and offer to remove rubbish for a fee, then they will be dumping it here and the ratepayer will be picking up the tab !

Don't do any trade with them.

They wonder why no-one wants them 'camping' nearby.
I have never known any of these convoys to leave where they stay without leaving behind their usual mound of rubbish and sometimes dead animals.
Some other poor people will have them on their doorstep now.

And they wonder why people hate them?

Perhaps not paying tax, illegally occupying land, dumping rubbish, screaming abuse, threats - and whatever else you can think of

How is it they are evicted from the land after trespassing and leaving rubbish behind, yet receive no punishment. You would would think at the very least their vehicles and caravans could be impounded until they pay for the clean up.
