Blackfen Post Office has re-opened to the public and has increased it opening hours from 30 to 56 per week.

James Brokenshire, MP for Sidcup and Old Bexley, was at the launch for the new look facility which is located in Blackfen Parade on Blackfen Road.

The post office will now be open from 7am to 10pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 9pm on Saturdays.

Mr Brokenshire said: "I welcomed the news that Blackfen Post Office was to be modernised and am delighted for operator Kiran Vithani on his hard work and to formally open the new branch.

"The Post Office is vital to the community around Blackfen and I'm sure the new improved office, and the longer opening hours, will be warmly welcomed by all of my constituents."

Post Office operator Kiran Vithani who has over 30 year experience added: "I was delighted to have the opportunity to open the new branch.

"I hope our customers like their new- look Post Office.

"The Post Office, now independent of Royal Mail, is the largest retail network in the UK, with over 11,500 branches.

It is also one of the fastest growing financial services companies and is developing its online and telephony services.
