A Bromley woman is desperate to get hold of One Direction so she can persuade them to do a concert in the Philippines.

Last year Nicola Clark spent five weeks in the south-east Asian country, helping rebuild the lives of families displaced by Typhoon Haiyan, which struck last November.

The typhoon killed 6,268 people and left countless others without a home.

Miss Clark says the people stay positive through music and song, and are particularly fond of One Direction.

The 37-year-old, of North Road, said: "Even with everything that has happened there the people were always smiling and maintain a positive outlook.

"In many cases they have no any material belongings and rely on charities for food, water and shelter.

"I’m well travelled but I have never seen a culture who are so uplifted by music.

"They are constantly singing and dancing and from what I saw, this has been a superb coping mechanism for the teenagers.

"One Direction are their absolute favourites and I am therefore campaigning for One Direction to perform in November this year, on the first anniversary of the Typhoon."

Miss Clark says despite calling the group's management and tweeting the boys themselves, she has had no luck.

She added: "I got my parents to send some One Direction stuff out when I was there and they went crazy - One Direction should have been there.

"If they could go out there and do a concert it would make such a difference to the people.

"Justin Bieber went over there as well and he said his experience was amazing."
