Police in Bexley have discovered a cannabis factory in Belvedere.

Following an anonymous tip-off, officers from the Bexley North Neighbourhoods Policing Team (NPT) executed a search warrant on a property in Coleman Road, Belvedere earlier today (April 8).

Upon entering the property police discovered six cannabis plants, approximately 100 bags of cannabis worth around £10 each and drug making equipment.

A male and a  female in their 20’s were arrested for possession with intent to supply and for the cultivation of cannabis. They currently remain in custody at a south London police station.

All drugs and growing equipment have been seized and will be destroyed.

Acting Sergeant Chris Molnar, North Neighbourhood Sergeant said:  "Residents in Belvedere have been concerned with drug abuse in their local area. We have received information and have acted quickly and have taken more drugs off the streets. We urge the community to contact their local policing team or call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 if they have any information relating to crime."

Inspector Russell Jones, North Neighbourhood Inspector, said: "We continue to execute search warrants at every opportunity in order to address the proliferation of controlled drugs of all types. This is an excellent job carried out by my Neighbourhood Team who will continue to target those responsible for committing offences and any form of anti social behaviour. We will not tolerate drug use or drug dealing on our Borough."
