A man in his 30s was pulled from the mud on the banks on the River Thames by Gravesend RNLI life boat crews on Friday night.
As the lifeboat arrived on scene the casualty was leaving the water and making his way across the mud at 6.10pm.
An RNLI spokesman said: " The casualty was wrapped in a blanket.
"Kent Fire & Rescue Service lowered a ladder over the sea wall and the casualty made their way up the ladder and into the care of the ambulance service.
"The lifeboat was then stood down and returned to station."
