UPDATE: Screams heard as woman stabbed in Plumstead, man arrested, another falls from window
Neighbours have described hearing screams after a woman was stabbed in a Plumstead home on Mother’s Day (March 30).
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident in High Grove at around 9.15am.
A 33-year-old woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition and a man was also taken to hospital after falling from a first-floor window.
He is reported to be in a stable condition in hospital.
Neighbours say they are “shocked” and “saddened” by the attack and are worried that children might have witnessed the scene.
Ivana Togher, 19, who lives in High Grove, said: “My mum heard screaming. “There was all blood on the door.
“It was really bad.
“Everyone’s a bit shocked.”
The road was cordoned off on Sunday with emergency services including an air ambulance at the scene.
The law student added: “It was on Mother’s Day, that was the worst thing, everyone was really sad. We all thought someone was dead.”
Resident Jacqueline Crane, who has lived in the area for 13 years, said: “I was sitting in the front room. I could see the air ambulance. “A man jumped out and broke his ankle.
“I couldn’t sleep last night just thinking of the kids.”
The mother-of-five went on to say the area was generally safe and quiet. She added: “This is quite a quiet area. It is a nice area for the kids, everyone’s really friendly and looks out for each other.”
Detectives investigating the stabbing have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder. He is currently in custody. Officers from Greenwich are now investigating.
