The 1st Welling Scouts are celebrating after a rebuild of their headquarters has been completed after nine years of hard work.
The official reopening of the new headquarters in Warwick Road was completed by Dean Jefferys, regional commissioner for London.
Guests included Bexley mayor Sharon Massey and Coun Nigel Betts, chairman of the East Wickham and Welling War Memorial Trust, who supported the group with a grant and he unveiled a dedication plaque to the scout group’s founder, Raymond Tritton Storer.
Julie Yeomans, group scout leader said: "After more than nine years of hard work, we are all absolutely ecstatic to finally officially open our headquarters and secure its future for many years to come.
"My thanks go to all who have helped to make this happen"
The group has been in existence since 1912 on the same site in Warwick Road and is delighted to now be meeting in its brand new headquarters.
Whilst building work has been going on over the last 18 months the group has met at the Salvation Army Hall in Welling.
