A Blackheath primary school has become the first Lewisham school to scoop a "remarkable" award for challenging pupils to achieve their best.

All Saints’ Church of England Primary School, in Blackheath Vale, was awarded the NACE Challenge Award which recognises a school’s ability to challenge all pupils to flourish.

Head teacher Debbie Tompkins said: "This NACE Challenge award is a huge tribute to our whole staff at All Saints' who work very hard to make learning fun and challenging for all children at all ability levels.

"We are very keen to work with other Lewisham schools to help them achieve this award as well.

“Every child matters and every child has potential."

Ms Alexander added: "This is a remarkable achievement by All Saints' and I'm really pleased that a small and very dynamic Lewisham primary school has been recognised like this."

NACE assessors praised the school’s young leaders programme as well as a reading club set up by Year 6 girls.
