Work has started on a horticulture skills centre in Shooters Hill.
The site is Greenwich Council's fourth new skills centre and forms the second base of its Horticulture and Equestrian Skills Centre, run in partnership with Hadlow College.
It aims to offer courses in landscaping, parks and open spaces management, horticulture, green keeping and laying sports turf and the opportunity to do courses to become licensed to use equipment like chainsaws and other machinery.
It will run introductory courses, along with apprenticeshop and enterprise training.
Leader of Greenwich Council Councillor Chris Roberts said: "The reason we’re making this investment in our skills centres, and choosing partners like Hadlow – is that they will offer our residents very real sustainable career paths.
"Hadlow have excellent links with industry and anyone studying in the new skills centre will have a great chance of getting long-term employment afterwards."
