A prolific Downham burglar who targeted 46 different homes across Bromley, Lewisham and Croydon has finally been sentenced.

Omar Galleze, aged 19, admitted the crimes at Croydon Crown Court on March 11 and was given 16 months in a young offender institution.

Galleze, of no fixed address, was arrested in Moorside Road, Downham, after being forensically linked to a burglary in Palace View, Bromley, committed on January 11.

When interviews, he admitted the offence, along with a further 23 burglaries in Bromley, 12 across Lewisham and another nine in Croydon.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Furphy from Bromley police said "Galleze is a prolific offender and his conviction should serve as a warning to other burglars.

"As well as increased patrols, both covert and overt, across the local area the Met's Directorate of Forensic Services are working continuously to increase the number of offenders identified through forensic intervention at all burglary scenes."
