An elderly woman has been run over in Petts Wood.

The lady, said to be 83, was crossing Queensway close to Santander and Evans cycle shop at around midday today (March 18) when she was knocked down.

An ambulance and responder car were still at the scene at 12.30pm, while a police officer was also in attendance.

The casualty’s sister, who asked not to be named, said she was on her way to meet her but did not see the accident.

However, after spending time in the ambulance she added she was told what happened.

She said: “As far as I know she was crossing the road and a lorry was parked – he (driver) signalled to cross but then he put his hand up.

“She got hit by a car. He (driver) put his hand up but she didn’t realise he was saying don’t go.

“She’s a bit sore and her face is a bit cut.”

Police this afternoon confirmed that they were called at approximately 11.45am following a collision between a car and a female pedestrian.

A spokeswoman said the woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to The Princess Royal hospital by London Ambulance Service
