Commonwealth Day was celebrated in Bexley with the largest, single raising of the Commonwealth flag ever recorded.
A specially written Commonwealth Affirmation was read out by the Mayor, Councillor Sharon Massey, before the raising of the flag in front of the Civic Offices, Bexleyheath on March 10.
More than 500 Commonwealth Flags were raised by local authorities and community groups throughout the UK, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
During the day charity teams took Commonwealth Flags to the top of the UK’s four highest National Peaks, using the occasion to raise funds and profile for their worthy causes including charity Cancer Research UK.
