Poetry from Syrian refugees is among some of the work to be read at an event at an Orpington school this month.
St Olave’s Grammar School in Goddington Lane will see students recite poetry on historical and political changes in the Arab world, stemming from British Council project ‘connecting classrooms’.
The school is among others in the borough to have links with schools in the Middle East, with pupils sharing experiences with peers from Beirut in Lebanon – a city now home to refugees following the conflict in Syria.
At 4pm on Wednesday March 26 St Olave youngsters are set to read their writing on the subject of ‘what peace means’ in response to the ongoing war in the region.
