A Northfleet mum is celebrating after being nominated for a Kent Women in Business Awards.

Tanya Legon, 37 of Coulton Avenue, started her own company called Giggle-Wiggles Mobile Soft Play Hire in February last year.

The company organises mobile parties for five-year-olds across the south-east and Mrs Legon runs the business from home with her husband Gary, 39, and their three children.

She has been nominated in the Home Based Business Woman Of The Year category with eight finalists and of these one winner and two runners up, so she has a three in eight chance of winning a prize.

Mrs Legon said: "The business has gone from strength to strength and the parties have been flying out the door.

"Keeping up with demand has been tough but I am loving it and it's not often people have a job they love.

"I originally started the business because I was looking for a mobile softplay company which could do a party at a good price, and I found all the existing businesses to be quite expensive.

"I cannot believe how much it has taken off in just a year.

"I bought the equipment off E-Bay and we have just been inundated with bookings, my husband helps me with the business now because I couldn't do it without him."

Mrs Legon, who works as a child minder Monday to Friday, dresses up as Mrs Giggle-Wiggles at the parties and takes along a van loaded with soft toys, ride-ons and bouncy castles to entertain her little partygoers.

She added: "We set up a party and then return at the end to pack away straight after."

The awards are being held at in Maidstone on March 27 at the Great Danes Hotel in Hollingbourne.
