A man from Bexley has pleaded guilty to punching a taxi driver from Data Cars in the face.

Taylor Platt, 21, of Danson Road, will be sentenced tomorrow at Bexley Magistrates Court after admitting beating up Salim Khan on February 15 this year.

Platt told the News Shopper: "I was just getting a lift home from North Heath to Bexleyheath and I asked the driver to take me to the Esso petrol station so I could get cash.

"He then said the fare would be £7 instead of £5. I was annoyed because he was trying to charge me an extra £2 for going 50 yards.

"I turned round and ended up hitting him accidently and knocking his glasses off.

"We had a bit of a tussle and we were both hitting each other.

"I then got out the cab and tried to just give him the money.

"It was a stupid situation that got totally out of hand.

"I pleaded guilty straight away because it was an accident and I did hit him first. I am really sorry."

The case was adjourned and Platt was bailed until the sentencing.
