A Lewisham pervert who installed spy software on three women's computers so he could watch them getting changed has been found guilty of voyeurism.

Andrew Meldrum, aged 30, of Crosslet Vale, was convicted at Woolwich Crown Court today (March 3) of three counts of unauthorised access to computer material and two of voyeurism.

One of Meldrum's victims, a 21-year-old woman, tipped-off police after she found software on her computer allowing remote access to her webcam.

She suspected it had been put there by Meldrum who had recently helped her set-up the computer.

When the victim, who cannot be named, told another woman, the same software was also found on her computer.

And a third woman, aged 28, discovered the software had been on her machine for 15 months.

Detective Constable Nick Pailthorpe from Southwark Borough CID said: "This was a complex and protracted investigation that involved detailed examination and evaluation of computer files, where crucial evidence was secured.

"I would like to thank all witnesses in this investigation but especially the three victims who gave evidence on matters that were clearly of a private, intimate and personal nature to them.

"I hope that they can take some consolation in the guilty verdict that sends out a clear message to anyone that this type of intrusion into a person's private life is not acceptable and the Met Police will support all victims and pursue all suspects."

Meldrum, who denied the charges and was cleared of theft and one voyeurism count, was remanded on bail to appear for sentencing on April 14.
