Lewisham and Greenwich residents will both see their council tax frozen this year, after budget meetings last week.
Both councils voted through a series of budget proposals which will see the rates left unchanged for another 12 months.
Lewisham Council has warned it faces unprecedented cutbacks of £95m over the next four years, with big changes needed in the way it provides services.
Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock told the meeting on Wednesday: "The task of identifying those cuts will dominate the next administration."
Among the £24.5m in savings approved last week was the reduction in attendance and welfare service staff - likely to lead to strike action later this month.
In Greenwich, where government cutbacks have slashed £70m from the budget, rates were frozen for the seventh year running while money is being allocated to the borough's violent and organised crime unit plus £6m for the council's employment scheme.
Leader Councillor Chris Roberts said: "We have set our budgets and we are spending money on the services and initiatives that residents tell us they want prioritised."
