A one-year-old girl was hurt in a three-car smash which caused rush-hour chaos in Blackfen.

The youngster was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich suffering from whiplash following the collision in Blackfen Road.

She was travelling in a Ford Focus with a 65-year-old woman who was also taken to QEH with minor injuries.

Traffic was heavy south of the Danson Interchange after the A210 was closed in both directions between Westwood Lane and Penhill Road.

A 62-year-old man travelling in a Jaguar XF was taken to Princess Royal University Hospital suffering from concussion following the crash at around 4.40pm on Wednesday.

A five-year-old girl and a 52-year-old woman travelling in a Vauxhall Corsa were also sent to QEH with minor injuries.

None of the crash victims were kept in hospital overnight.

Three ambulances were needed while fire crews had to release one passenger from the wreckage.

Around 15 firefighters in two fire engines from Bexley and Eltham and another fire rescue unit from Bexley also attended.

The road was eventually reopened in both directions at just after 7pm.
