AUTHORITIES in Bromley are working with young carers in the borough to find out how best to help them out.

Bromley Council has joined up with Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group to see what youngsters with extra responsibility think of local services and discover what they value most.

The council reports there are around 600 young people who look after family members, neighbours or friends because of ill-health or disabilities.

This week an online survey's been put into action aiming to gather views, so authorities know how best to lend a hand to those with an extra duty of care. It's running until Sunday February 23.

Cllr Robert Evans Executive Member for Care Services said: “Young carers do some amazing work by looking after family members and others in the community.

“It is important that we understand their views and make sure they get the advice, guidance and support they need to continue with such an important role.”
